When recalling what inspired my idea of the 7th Sense, a sense outside the physical body yet still a part of the energetic self, I kept returning to the same image — a sphere of light!
This may sound like a crude example, but nonetheless, imagine a lamp, a chandelier or any light source around your home. The vessel for that light may come in many different shapes and sizes, from globes to sconces, transparent to opaque and modern to antique. The light being emitted, whether dim or bright, soft or harsh, moody or serene, is still light regardless of it’s qualities. However, this light does not only remain within that vessel. It diffuses out and away so much so that you can’t see where the vessel’s light ends and any other ambient light begins. All the light becomes one!
I’ve seen that we, as human beings are much the same as these “light sources.” There is an intangible yet perceptible “Source” that exists in all of us and emits “Light” from within us; in anything living, really. This “Source” whether referred to as spirit or soul, or one of many other names, is of the same Field of energy that connects us all (humanity & all other life) together as One. In the case of humanity, because of our wonderful personalities, free-will and causality, our energy field or “Light” (often referred to as an aura) is easily discernible as separate from that of another’s by those who are sensitive or practiced in sensing such energy fields; those I refer to as 7th Sensories!
There is no one word in the English language that adequately describes the Field of energy or this expansive Oneness completely. In Sanskrit, Akasha: a universal etheric field in which a record of past events is imprinted, comes very close to what this field is like; though the word is still limited. The Field of Oneness that I speak of not only records past events, the Field is also a medium for information, it is a resource of ideas much like a Universal subconscious and has within it, future events and possibilities. I like to refer to this Field as “The Universe.” It is huge, expansive, incomprehensible even, and it encompasses everything within it — both seen and unseen. Better yet, you have unlimited access to it!
Whether through profound spiritual experiences or by virtue of being witness to the sublime, we know this all to be true at some level or another. What is more important than the belief in it and awareness of it is to know how to interface with the Universe. So how do we interface with the Universe in a conscious and reliable way?
My answer — Your 7th Sense!
